Update from Peta Bennett, TPM Chairperson

Dear Friends of TPM,

The Turning Point Ministries Camping Team is first and foremost dedicated to protecting the safety of each individual person who attends our camps. We are committed to providing safe practices and facilities so that campers and their families can be confident that everything is being done to keep all participants safe.

We are working very closely with the LCA NSW and ACT District Office and Warrambui Retreat and Conference Centre (where we host the majority of our camps) to ensure that our camps are as safe as possible. We are monitoring the pandemic closely and are aware that the situation can improve or decline in a short amount of time. Most of our campers are from the Riverina and Canberra.

We know and believe in the impact of camping ministry in the lives of young people. We are planning to host TPM events throughout 2021 in a modified way.

Each event will have a Covid Safe Plan, and will include protocols such as:

  • Limiting numbers if necessary

  • Temperature checks on arrival

  • Designated drop off and pick up areas to avoid mingling

  • Social distancing for all adults

  • Reminders and designated hand washing times, especially prior to meals

  • Altering games and activities to accommodate safety practices

  • Keeping one accommodation room empty in case anyone develops symptoms during camp, and organising for them to return home

  • Asking participants who have visited a hotspot in the last 14 days, or who have any symptoms to remain home and not attend camp
